OK, I recorded this little ditty after doing a lot of noodling around to a progression in 'C'. It was recorded using a sure 57 into my mixer into Logic. The Rhythm (guitar) tracks are my Tele played through a Boss GE7, and an MXR dist III played into a Peavey Classic 30. Bass is a midi loop, drums are an apple loop, and the lead was my YJM strat intothe GE7, YJMDOD 308, MXR Dist III into a Peavey Classic 30. The PC30 is indeed a darker sound, I'll have to do a bunch through my Marshall DSL 401 JCM 2000... Just to see...

I'm getting happier with the sound, but lt me know what YOU think of the lead 'flavour'. Thanks in advance, eh?

Sounds great, I can hear the diggin deep bends and vibrato, great tone, It is that neck which gives the technique a sound of its own. if you know what I mean. its got that yjm and blackmore sound you can only get from that type of neck. good effort.

Hehe, right... blues...

I think I can recognize if you play in a tune or not just by the way your bends sound.

I'm not happy with the sound. The backing is ok and the lead is ok, but somehow they don't cling together too well. Like putting Satch in front of a New Orleans blues/jazz band, you know what I mean? The sounds are form different universes and the styles too and it's gonna take a lot of writing skil to put the right licks at the right spots to make the two universes unite. Currently I'm getting the feel you just jammed it out and the result is not something I'd care to listen to again.

Oke dokey zombre, you post was regarding tone and to me the guitar tone that you recorded was very pleasing, thats because I love the valve amp miced sound and the fact I can hear your using a yjm strat does give you the tone you get from that type of guitar, so anything that is blackmore esque tone wise gets my vote, maybe cause im a RB freak. I want to buy an Ibanez rg2550 because it is a more modern guitar than the archaic strat im using, but hey I also want to get a scalloped weapon aswel, but later. to me the sound of metal on metal is king. so as a tone test I LOVE IT..... it wasnt about the style backing or note choice, it was about the TONE... thumbs up man you cant beat el naturel. oh and ibz critique sombody in a negative unproductive way shame on you. off bender....

How is that more unproductive than a mere "hey, I love your tone" ?

PS, I did comment on the tone and I said both guitars are OK tone-wise. Also, zombre asked about how it sounded and that's precisely what I replied to: I don't like how one tone sounds over the other.

That lead tone kind of reminds me of an old proco rat pedal. Very smooth and rich.

I am going to have to side with ibz here about the tones not matching. The lead tone almost sounded out of tune, might be too much delay or reverb. The chops are killer though.
