I was noodling around a bit today and trying to nail down a decent rhythm tone on my POD. This is what I came up with. Ibanez RG2EX1 stock into POD 2.0 on Modern High Gain model, Line6 4x12 speaker:

Yes, I know there's a metronome that got mixed in accidentally. So sue me.

Also, since we're on the subject, if you can post what your rhythm tone sounds like by all means let loose! This will be a fun comparison to see what everyone is shooting for tone-wise.

As you can tell, I'm leaning toward the metal / hard rock end of the spectrum :-P

thats pretty slick dude. do you front end your amp with the POD or go into the effects loop?

I use a PODxt Live. Wit hthe metalshop model pack, i really like the bogner uberschall model for that high gain sound with the mesa cab and a dynamic mic model. either through the tube power section at home or my rack at practice with the band. you can get an idea at the myspace link in my profile.

Shane, that sound has serious balls!

Once again shane, our tastes are very similar.
Modern high gain would be either of the Soldano models, right? Yeah, it is often my go-to, not the SLO model, the other, X88R or something like that...
My other favourite is the Mesa Boggie MkIIc+ model.
Also the dual rec model.
Or the Insane model if I need something with more edge.

Favourite cab models, Line6 4x12, Marshall w/ 30s 4x12, Line 6 4x10, Line6 2x12, Matchless 2x12

Usually I try to set up sounds that I can use both for rythm and lead, which is why all my sounds are flawed and will be revised eventually.

Maybe I'll record some samples of these later.

Here are the samples:
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7043491

In order of appearance:
Modern High Gain (Soldano X88R) + Matchless Chieftain 2x12 , I call this my Blackmore sound even though it's not really close.
California Crunch #2 (Mesa Boogie Mark IIc+) Drive + Line 6 2x12 , this isn't trying to simulate anyone in particular.
Treadplate (Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier tremoverb) + Marshall w/ vintage 30s 4x12 , this is my Metallica sound.
Line 6 Insane + Matchless Chieftain 2x12 , my Painkiller sound.

Like I said they are not strictly rythm sounds, except for the Rectifier patch.

oooo Nice! I love it when I get to A/B the same riff with the various patches! Very nice lol (Consider the riff 'stolen' though!)
The Cali's probably my favorite, sounded pretty smooth!

Shane have you every heard of the band Paradise Lost? Not ther old stuff but anythng once they switched from death metal to hard rock/ industrial...I think you'd like them alot.

I like anything that grooooves!!!!!!!

fusion, funk, hard rock on the upbeat etc.

Anyway, this thread motivated my to re-tweak and re-organise my POD2...
