Guys,

Its finally happened, I will now be promoting my new Spear guitar here in Ireland. I'm like a kid waiting on his new toy, but rest assured I will let you in on the whole thing as soon as it arrives from Spear Guitars distributer Blacki.eu in Scotland.

I'm one lucky sonofabitch, cant wait to start doing the rounds with it!!!!!

Full report will be posted here after I take delivery.

So what are the spec differences between yours and the standard gladius?

Hi Farlow,

It will be loaded with Seymour Duncans and set to my spec in regards to the action, I keep it low, as in nearly buzzing low!! Ernie Ball 9's are my string of choice. Still haven't decided on which Duncans, so open to suggestion as I have to finalize my choice Monday. The rest will be pretty much standard!

If I could get a coil-tap in there it would be sweet, as I'm happy with the one on my JS.

I also notice they don't have an Australian distributor. I think their best move would be to toss one my way and I promise I will tell people how good it is. Promise. No, seriously, I will.

Farlow!!!

Actually contact a guy called Hank Lee (I shit you not!!!), he's the head of Spear Guitar in Korea, he's a sweet guy, tell him your interested but know of no Australian distributer. See what he says, sometimes rockin with your cock out is the best way to go, sure its only an e-mail. You just never know until you try.

If not I have a back up plan. Let me know if you do it.

i just played a gig with my new spear guitar. it's from the RD series. les paul like. plays as well as my gibson. i'm very pleased with it. bought it from my drummer's music shop here in ohio. he got it from a new jersey distributor that supposedly NO longer can distribute them at that low a cost...$299...i'm not surprised....

Nice one Bach............

I do hear good things, my friend here in Belfast's Marcus Music stocks the entry model which is based on the Strat, I think its retailing at about $130!! He said its better than the Squire version, and almost as good as some strats, but people get put off because of the price being so low. I guess building good guitars and then pricing them so low has some sort of negative impact??

Is your RD spec pretty good for the price??

Sweet!!!!! Now I'm gonna hold the postman to ransom till it comes! Thanks for the input guys, I'll post a review, maybe a little video too. But you will have to excuse me, I'm going through some weird Buckethead phase, hopefully it will pass before I get it, or at least before I make the video!!!!!! My JS and custom hate me for it.........

I get that sinking feeling Zombre,

I'll be all excited, but if it suck, I'll be on the JS or the custom, or the acoustic, or the ......................................etc.

I think we all find 'the one' not only in life, but in our instruments too, you have your YJM, I currently have the Ibanez, but hey, I'm gonna give ANY instrument the chance, and I'll report back and give you the heads up on this thing!!!

Cheers for the reply guys.

Right on, man. I keep going back and forth between the Ibanez Prestige, the Ibanez Universe, and the YJM Strat. I have a Telecaster, an ESP Eclipse, A fretless strat, and an ESP 7 String that literally sit here collecting dust. I should most probably find someone who wants to trade some stuff and get rid of those extra guitars so I can get more Malmsteens, lol.

I am most definitely interested in seeing some video footage of these guitars, though.

I tell you what Zombre, I would take that ESP-7 in a heartbeat. I always wanted a 7, but never felt comfortable with the Ibanez RG ones, couldn't afford a Universe at present, the Shecter was nice but string thru and I didn't like the pickups, and the Dean Vendetta had that mad headstock which only suits some guitars at best as well as being thru body strung.

The others were Jazzers and I love the hollow bodies and semi's but doesn't quite fit what I would use it for.

If you ever do sell it, give me a figure, add the postage cost to Ireland, and we'll dance :-p

If work picks up again that is.............haha.....
