Peavey EXP V-Type Series

I bought this guitar used from a friend awhile back and it's become my #1 guitar now when I gig or practice...I can't put it down.
Right off the bat, it's very lightweight...better than slinging a Les Paul for three hours. It has a nice abalone-style stripe all the way around the body, fretboard, and headstock. This is standard on all color models (black, white, and transparent purple). There are no fretboard inlays except the 12th fret but there are dot markers on the side. This may confuse some players but I found I adapted rather quickly and it really isn't an issue for me anymore. The tuning keys are really cool...they're oval shaped rings instead of just blobs of metal. This is actually a benefit because your fingers don't slip as easily when you're tuning. I have the non-tremolo style but they can be bought with the Floyd Rose too for you whammy bar lovers. It's neck-thru so it has a good bit of sustain and neck stability. It has 24 frets yet a shorter scale length so for a small person like me this is just excellent.
They V-Type series comes with stock ceramic pickups and really aren't that bad for factory pickups but they are a tad muddy. However I did replace the bridge with a Seymour Duncan JB model pickup and now for me better became the best. I left the stock neck pickup alone because it does sound good...very warm with a nice response. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, right?
Overall, I give the Peavey V-Type series guitar an 8 out of 10. If you get a chance to try one, don't pass it up! You may find your next dream guitar like I did! To check these guitars out, go to http://www.peavey.com and look for them.
