A really good album. Some of the songs just make sense with what is going on in this world today. Really great sounding songs and some pretty cool guitar riffs. Verdict: 4 of 5 stars
Sure, the man became used to people using 'genius' as a everyday nickname for him, and he made plenty of amazing records, but I particularly dig the creative process behind this record. Posthumous vocal performances brought back to life through the minds and talents of brilliant arrangers, producers, and the musicians of the Count Basie Big Band that have now been touring for 22 years after the passing of their leader. A must have for anyone with a tragic case of the groove.
The first rock opera and still a legend today, again the guitar work on this album is incredible, every rhythm guitarist should hear it at least once.
