Hey everyone,
I'm a bit new to the recording game (well I have been making garbage quality ones for years but I mean proper recording) Right now I record through a little m-audio firewire unit I have and then send it to Acid Pro or Reason. Anyway, I was wondering what sort of mics I should consider for recording my guitar and whats the cheapest I could get away with while still having reasonable sound quality?

Thanks!

shure 57 is the way to go. this is an instance where you get what you pay for and the sure 57 has a reputation as the ultimate budget home recording mic. The Shure SM57 unidirectional dynamic microphone is exceptional for musical instrument pickup or for vocals. Try looking on www.froogle.com. there are a few different models of the 57. I think i've even seen them sold at Target and Best Buy.

Another mic you might want to check out is the MXL Mobile Audio Recording Kit. Gutiar Center sells it for like $70. http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/MXL-Mobile-Audio-Recording-Kit?full_sku=103041497

It comes with a integrated preamp so it should give you plenty of volume.
