About Systematic Chaos

Hopefully, none of you die hard DT fans ever read my previous review of the album Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater yesterday. In it, I stated that it wasn't that great, and that John Petrucci's lyrics had gone down the drain into a sea of D&D themed songs. I just hadn't really gotten that much sleep and hadn't really thouroughly listened to the whole album. Yeah, I heard all the songs, but I didn't really listen. I heard. There's a difference.

I just want you guys to know that I did change the review after doing some more things.
1. I listened to "In The Presence Of Enemies Pt. 1 and 2 one after the other, the way they were intended to be. It actually sounds really good. The problem I had with the song was that after I got to part 2, I couldn't remember what part 1 sounded like, and it sounded like a different song to me.
2. I actually put in the time to listen to "Forsaken". It's a good song. 'nuff said.
3. I previously stated that Mike Portnoy was doing too much singing. It is true that he is doing a bit much vocally, but my main concern was sacrificing his playing live for singing. After watching the DVD, I found he was just having fun with it. He's not really being a control freak, like I originally thought.

So, yeah, just putting it out there for you guys that may or may not have even read the darn thing. Just making sure. Once I read my own review, I was pretty shocked I was capable of just denouncing a great band like that. I mean, it's not even bad. It was like the type of instant reaction to Falling Into Infinity, which many claim to be "DT's Sell-Out Album" or "Their Worst", or even "The Day My Soul Died". It turned out to be good. Lesson learned. Get back to your lives.
