This is probably the most timeless record ever created. No folk record has come close to the originality of chordal voicing, melody lines, lyrical content, or instrumental production as Five Leaves Left. Its such a pure album without dabbling in kitsch, culture fascination, sex appeal, and other such none-sense that clutters much of the music industry today. It is music that creates a mood that is saddening, yet empathetic and consoling. The quality that Nick shows in his songwriting and guitar playing is reflected perfectly by Robert Kirby's accompanying string arrangements and interpretation of mood.
