In the latest video shared from her new MTV unplugged live album, Courtney Barnett took on the task of covering Leonard Cohen’s So Long, Marianne. You can watch the video of the performance above.

Barnett’s take on the song is notably understated, true to Cohen’s delivery – however cellist Lucy Waldron provides a much less busy backing than the original’s string section, lending a moving, emotional counterpoint to the matter-of-fact vocals.

Also backing Barnett on the album are bandmates Dave Mudie and Bones Sloan, with Paul Kelly, Evelyn Ida Morris and Marlon Williams also making guest appearances on the album.

Video of the performance of Untitled (Play It on Repeat) has also been released.

The full album was released digitally on Friday 6 December. The physical version will be released on 21 February, via Milk Records, and can be preordered here.
