 My music recommendations
Runrig are a mega band in Scotland and I was lucky enough to see them when visiting family and friends back on the West Coast (Appin). The song "Protect and Survive" can really touch you if you have Celtic roots and in this melting pot of a country almost everyone does (yes, everyone. I have an African American friend whose last name is MacGregor!). A great combination of acoustic, electric solid body bass and 6 string, bagpipes and fiddle...nice for Bluegrass fans too! Like Seven Nations, there are too many albums of theirs to list, but they are the best, in my view, of modern traditional Gaelic music (many songs are sung in Gaelic).
OK...I know, many think bagpipes sound like a cat being skinned alive, but not me. Being Scottish and a friend of Aaron Shaw who is the piper of this band I had to throw them out there for you to see. Great stuff and "if" you do dig "the pipes" Aaron sets that chanter on fire and is honestly the best piper I have ever seen or heard! No guitars, but good music nonetheless.
Being Scottish I've liked these guys since they began. If you're into modern "Celtic style" music then these boys have a lot to offer. I chose this album (I like them all) as it has The Ballad of Calvin Crozier...one of my favorite songs by any band and based on a true story of a returning Confederate soldier who was murdered by Union troops in SC. Check out their music on YouTube.
One more winner. Check them out on Youtube...great stuff.
 A short history of me
