1/28/08 - After lunch today I went and bought a guitar! I have been obsessing about guitar for a little bit. Didn’t really mention it to anyone. I got an Epiphone SG limited edition in blue. I pretty much know nothing about guitars and picked it out because it is pretty. It has a nick in the back so they threw in a tuner and cord for free. I also got a chepo amp and a cleaning cloth. I forgot to get a pick and I think I need a strap because I am really afraid of dropping it. I have been playing with it for hours and my fingers say OUCH. I also went to Borders and got a little beginners book so I have been working on some chords and scales. Trying to remember the names of the strings. EADGBE. The only chords I have memorized are A and em. I like the way em sounds a lot. Of course I like all of the sad minor chords. I feel that I have learned a lot today considering I knew nothing this morning. I also need to get an adapter for my headphones to plug into the amp so I don’t have to worry about angering my neighbors. So far I have just kept the amp really low, quieter than I keep the tv so I don’t think I am being too annoying.
I also found tabs for Hole’s Doll Parts. There are only about 4 chords, I can play all of them but I can’t go from one to the other without stopping completely. I want to know at least one super easy song so I feel accomplished. :P I already know the words to that song so it would be really neat if I were able to play it and sing it, that is going to take a long time though. I don’t want to be a rock star or anything, I just have this great need inside of me to make music. When I play Mocha (my puppy) goes to sleep so that is awesome. It would be a lot harder if he were jumping on me the whole time.
 1/31/08 - I came home and played my guitar for a bit then watched tv and knitted before going to bed. My fingers are pretty hurty so I can’t play guitar very long before it is uncomfortable but I am still trying.

 2/2/08 - This morning I was playing with my guitar and I noticed that the fingers on my left hand are no longer hurty so I have to make sure I play every day so they don’t hurt again. The right hand thumb hurts though because I do not have a pick and I cut my nails too short. This makes it hard for me to hit the right strings but I will get a pick next week and that should fix that problem. I learned and memorized a simple little blues riff today so that is exciting. I can actually play something that sort of sounds like music and change notes and strings somewhat successfully most of the time. It is a big step, trust me.
