Wether your a drummer, guitarist,bassist, keyboardist, etc. you have a certain style. Your style is what makes you what you are, music wise. I oppose cover bands (as in a seriously dedicated cover band) because your only playing someone else's music. Not your style, but theirs. Musicians should develop their own styles, and the way to do so is compose, compose, compose. You would say but i CANT compose, but anyone can compose. The tune you hum while sitting on your toilet or in the shower, thats composition. For instance, i mixed oriental scales with melodic scales and jazz scales. Tha way i have my own style, and nobody can copy me. It's what makes us unique, and worth listening to.
