Daisy Rock’s Pretty In Punk – A Tribute to The Bangles & 6th Annual Charity Event Fills Los Angeles Venue, The Roxy

LOS ANGELES, CA – November 2010 - Hundreds of people lined the block at The Roxy in anticipation of Daisy Rock’s Pretty In Punk – A Tribute to The Bangles & 6th Annual Charity Event on Friday, November 19th. Event-goers cleared their schedules and came together for this celebration of the legendary all-female rock group, with all proceeds benefitting Covenant House California (CHC) and Mötley Crüe member Nikki Sixx’s “Running Wild in the Night” music program at CHC.

The music event transcended generations, uniting musicians and enthusiasts of all ages in support of Covenant House’s efforts to help homeless youth. The organization is currently the largest privately funded agency in the Americas that provides food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and an array of other important services to homeless, throwaway, and runaway kids. Nikki Sixx’s campaign for “Running Wild in the Night” has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to sponsor Covenant House’s efforts and develop their creative arts and music program.

“I was homeless on September 15, and I found out about the Covenant House—they helped me with school, and they helped me with a job,” expressed Covenant House California youth Jenny to the crowd between acts. “Then I found out about the music program we have. I’ve been going—I learned how to play the bass, and I’m learning how to play the guitar right now.”

This year’s Pretty In Punk line-up was filled with phenomenal female-driven bands, building up to the historic and celebrated rock group The Bangles, whose influence has spanned three decades of popular music. Also performing were punk sensation The Dollyrots, acoustic rocker and six-string virtuoso Janet Robin, high-energy rock group 5 O’clock Shakedown, and Daisy Rock President Tish Ciravolo’s talented and entertaining punk band, sASSafrASS.

“We’re so blessed to have The Bangles and all these amazing musicians on stage, with such a large and supportive group of fans coming out to support the cause,” commented Tish Ciravolo. “I can’t imagine a more meaningful way to inspire the kids of Covenant House than with the power of music.”
The night was made possible by the many generous sponsors who are aligned with the Pretty In Punk cause and who donated their time and valuable resources. Sponsors for the evening’s event included Venus Zine (venuszine.com), Wristbands With a Message (writbandswithamessage.com), Udderly Smooth (utterlysmooth.com), GoGirl Energy Drink (gogirlenergy.com), Girls to the Front (girlstothefront.com), The Highway Girl (thehighwaygirl.com), and Ocean Potion SunCare (opotion.com).
