Dan Auerbach’s Side Project The Arcs Release New Tracks
Dan Auerbach has taken time off from The Black Keys to record a new album with his side-project, The Arcs. The album, titled Yours, Dreamily, comes out September 4, but can be streamed or pre-ordered now through the band’s website.
Auerbach gathered together a cast of friends to write and record earlier this year. The band is more soul-oriented than the Black Keys, and even includes female Mariachi players on the new album. Included on the creative team are Auerbach’s friends Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon. Kenny Vaughan and all-female mariachi group Mariachi Flor de Toloache also guest on the album.
The songwriting process was very prolific, with Auerbach and company coming up with 75 songs, which they boiled down to 15 songs for the album.
"When we get together, our output is kind of crazy," Auerbach told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. "We have 75 songs. We had to keep telling ourselves to stop writing new songs so we could finish old ones."
