Soundgarden Announce Spring Tour Dates

Soundgarden have announced a slew of festival dates in Florida, to be followed by a 15-city North American tour beginning May 3rd at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The Seattle-based band, who helped launch the grunge movement with their seminal 1988 album, Ultramega OK, has been on and off again in the 21st Century, though they have been slowly working toward a new album the past two years.

Soundgarden scored a Grammy Award in 1994 for the song "Black Hole Sun," off their biggest-selling album, Superunknown, but by 1997 the group had disbanded.

Lead vocalist Chris Cornell released several highly-regarded solo albums, and also joined forces with former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello to form the supergroup Audioslave.

Soundgarden reunited in 2010 after more than a decade apart, and in 2012 released King Animal, which earned them a Grammy nomination in the Best Hard Rock Performance category for the single "Black Rain." The band toured together in 2014, and began working on new songs in 2015, for an album that has not yet been released.
